In preparation of next week’s Steering Committee several working groups held a short online meeting. The WG ‘CLUSTER & Africa’ was one of them.
This group was officially established on the 19th of March 2021 during the General Assembly in Stockholm. Working towards relationships with Africa was one of the priorities of the Grenoble presidency and the plan was presented by Gregory d’Hahan and Antoine Le Grand.
The three main actions they set were ‘consolidate state of relations between CLUSTER members and Africa’, ‘identify African universities motivation to collaborate with CLUSTER via a questionnaire’ and ‘initiate an idea box and respond to call for proposals’.
Thanks to the efforts of the group, many of the set actions have been achieved during the Grenoble presidency. Now, KU Leuven has taken over this role and has once again placed Africa as on of it’s priorities.
During the preparatory meeting the members discussed their accomplishments and the plan for the future. In the course of the conference Gregory d’Hahan (Grenoble INP – UGA) officially announced that he will take a step back as chair of the group.
We would like to thank him for all his achievements and wish the next chair Bart Van der Bruggen (KU Leuven) the best of luck.
